Your Role
Counselors are the hands and feet of Christ at Mt. Cross — the ones who bring faith to life in every song, meal, and campfire conversation. They create safe, Christ-centered spaces where campers can grow in faith, build friendships, and have unforgettable experiences. The ideal counselor is caring, adaptable, enthusiastic about the outdoors, and ready to serve others with joy and creativity. If you love Jesus, love people, and love adventure, you might be exactly who we’re looking for.
Being on summer staff is both challenging and deeply rewarding. You’ll work long days filled with energy, laughter, and unexpected moments of grace. Through it all, you’ll grow in resilience, faith, and confidence — discovering the kind of servant leadership that lasts far beyond the summer.
As a summer staff member, you will grow in your faith, develop incredible leadership skills that future employers value, and help campers have one of the best experiences of their lives. Not to mention, you’ll enjoy weekend adventures in Santa Cruz!
The Details
Summer 2026 staff training begins in late May, with camps running through the end of July. Pay starts at $370 per week plus room and board. Throughout the summer, staff travel across Northern California to partner churches and host homes — visiting cities like San Jose, San Francisco, and Sacramento while sharing the Mt. Cross experience with new communities. You’ll build lifelong friendships, grow in faith, and get paid to explore, serve, and adventure.
Position Dates: May 31 - July 31, 2026
Compensation: $370/week, food, and housing.
Leadership Staff Training: May 27-29, 2026
Staff Training: May 31 - June 9, 2026
