Planning a Retreat - F.A.Q's

How do I start planning my retreat?

Use the Retreat Inquiry Form to give our registrar details about your planned retreat.

What is your max capacity?

We can accommodate approximately 200 overnight guests in a combination of cabin and lodge-style facilities. We also have a large camp ground space that can hold up to 60 people, depending on how you set up your tents.

What kind of accommodations do you have?

Mt. Cross provides cabin and lodge-style facilities. The two lodge buildings have rooms with twin and bunk beds with shared bathrooms, housing up to 31 guests combined. Linens can be provided upon request. The seven Madrone cabins are hexagonal rooms with 5 bunk beds in each; a shared bathroom is located in a central building outside. The Evergreen and Redwood cabins have four cabins each, with 6-7 bunk beds per cabin and indoor, shared bathrooms.

Can your kitchen accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions?

Mt. Cross works hard to accommodate most dietary needs. We are nut-aware and, while foods may be processed at a center with nuts, we don't serve food containing them. We frequently serve vegetarian, vegan, and/or gluten free options, and stay away from dangerous food items when known. Please contact Mt. Cross if you or anyone in your group needs special food accommodations.

Can my group cook at Mt. Cross instead of having meals prepared?

Typically, no. California State Law requires that all people who use the kitchen must have a CA Food Handler's Card. Under very special, atypical circumstances this might be arranged if you already have the card and then participate in an in-person meeting and training session - at your cost - with the Director of Food Services. However, the general answer is "no".

What activities can our group participate in?

There are many exciting activities included in your rental without additional fee: hiking, basketball, volleyball, field games, horse shoes, disk golf, etc.  At additional cost, we also have a pool on-site that may be rented and can accommodate up to 50 people at a time as well as a challenge course and archery site.  All aquatic, archery, and challenge course activities require the facilitation/supervision of certified personnel. If you have people who qualify to lead/supervise these activities, you may bring us a copy of their license. Otherwise, we have personnel who can do this for you at an additional cost.

When is the pool open?

The pool is in operation from April 15 through September 30. for our regular fees. We are willing to open it outside of this time frame for an additional fee.

Can we bring our own lifeguard?

Yes. Groups bringing their own lifeguard must provide Mt. Cross with copies of current CPR/AED and Lifeguarding Certifications.  Fees for pool rental apply.

Do you offer linens?

Yes, upon request.

Do you have indoor heat? Hot water?

Every building onsite has heat AND hot water!

How much does it cost to rent the facilities?

Please contact Joshua Armstrong, our rental coordinator, for a current price list.
